I love cooking and also entertaining. This is a Dessert Cake that I use when entertaining! I have tried other desserts, BUT…when I invite people over, they ALWAYS request this!
MAGGIE’S DECADENT CHOCOLATE DESSERT
· 150g dark (92% Cocoa Solids) Chocolate
· 75g butter or Margarine (which ever you prefer)
· 125ml Cointreau Liqueur
· 6 medium eggs, separated
· 150g castor sugar
· ½ cup of good quality honey
· ½ cup finely chopped almonds
· 1 tablespoon Almond Meal
· 50g self-raising flour, sifted
· 55g cocoa powder
A REAL TREAT FOR A SPECIAL DINNER!
Preheat oven to 180C (170C if you have a fan-forced oven). Grease a 24cm spring-form tin with butter,oil or Margarine then line. (I use greaseproof paper)
Melt the Quality Dark chocolate and butter (Or Margarine) in a bowl placed on a saucepan with gently simmering water. One Melted Add the Cointreau Liqueur and gently stir until combined. Leave to cool.
Whisk egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy. Add the chocolate mixture, honey, and chopped almonds. Stir until well combined.
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form very carefully fold into the chocolate with the sifted flour,cocoa powder and almond meal.
Pour into the prepared tin and bake for 50-60 minutes. Test by inserting a skewer in the centre - if it comes out clean, it's ready. Cool in the tin before turning out.
Serve with Homemade Ice Cream or Cream Or on its own with a Cointreau Coffee!
